April 1, 2015 – Wahiawa Botanical Gardens
In my entire Hawaii wedding career, I’ve only shot two weddings here. It’s a great place for garden weddings. There’s a good amount of parking, there’s not many mosquitoes, it’s quiet. I have yet to really explore this garden fully. As of today, to do a wedding there is completely free. That may change in the future though.
April 2, 2015 – Sherwoods, Wiamanalo Beach
Wedding couples love the look of the east coast because of the turquoise water and blue skies. There is a catch-22 though. The weather is wicked. The wind is strong. I would say, on an average day, it blows about 10 to 15 mph. Today, it was blowing at around 20 to 25 mph. The wind really throws a wrench into photography as I’m truly limited to “angles that are hair friendly,” if you get my drift.
The best time to do weddings here? Possibly right after sunrise. That’s when I find the wind to be the least strongest.
A couple comments about these photos. Some are photoshopped, some are not. But the ones that are, tourist have been eliminated, and the sand has been cleaned up rather extensively.
April 3, 2015 – MAUI WEDDING! At Po’olenalena
I don’t do much weddings on Maui. But when I do, it means one thing to me. Krispy Kreme! Yeah yeah, I know it doesn’t mean that much to you, but we don’t have one on Oahu. And those hot glazed donuts, fresh off the rack; lets just say that, I hope Heaven has a Krispy Kreme. Notes about the couple…..they are pretty awesome.
April 4, 2015 – Pupukea
It wasn’t the best weather at Pupukea, it was a little windy, not to mention a little rainy. But that little hiccup didn’t stop a thing. The wedding was romantic, the photo shoot was filled with laughs. I couldn’t ask for more and wouldn’t change a thing.
April 6, 2015 – Pupukea – In the day!
I don’t do many blue sky shots very often. I don’t do many blue sky shots at Pupukea very often. Most of my couples want those dramatic sunset shots. Blue sky shots though, I have to say, they are a nice change up right?
April 19, 2015 – Pupukea
The North Shore, lets just say most beach locations have been hammered with strong winds lately. This bride decided to braid her hair down, which really worked out well that day.
April 26, 2015 – Pupukea and Magic Island
Here’s a couple whose wedding ended up being on the North Shore because Ko Olina closed down one of my favorite coves. It was a rather stroke of luck though, because on that day, it stormed everywhere on the island EXCEPT Pupukea. We just had stormy clouds that day. Because my couple paid for sunset photos, and we couldn’t get it that day, we headed to Magic Island a few days after their wedding to get those done. I came straight out of minor neck surgery and shot those sunset photos for them. I was a little loopy, but they forgave me.
April 28, 2015 – The cove @ Paradise Cove Luau
Jurassic Park is coming out in May right? This is my second couple who wanted to do dino/shark pics. I did it a bit different this time Instead of everyone running from the camera, I had the couple kiss during the running scene. They do that all the time in the movies right? The protagonist always has to confess his love, explain himself, always at the most inopportune time. This couple was a lot of fun.
