Hmm...odds are you're probably looking for some information
…and I’m thinking that you’re probably looking for wedding information, particularly in Hawaii. Or maybe, you’re planning a vow renewal. My ESPN powers are telling me – it’s a surprise vow renewal – and that the Cowboys suck balls and will never win a Super Bowl…haha.
Well, I’ll be honest with you. The reason why I created this post is because I’ve been getting flooded with wedding inquiries lately, and a lot of my new potential customers can’t really figure out what type of company I am, or what they’re possibly getting into.
I had a potential customer tell me, “I thought you were a Hawaii wedding news website!”
Yeah, I can see that.
Let me just clear the dust.
My name is Steve Young, and my company, Dream Weddings by Steve, is a full-service wedding provider. Think of me as your one-stop shop for your wedding ingredients!
So my clients dream it up, and I get it done for them for the least amount of money, not to mention, the least amount of stress. To date, I’ve planned over 10,000 weddings, and I would say 99.9% of them were happy. You can’t satisfy all customers. To be honest, I try my best, and there’s that one customer every three years that can never be satisfied.
Now, the reason why my website looks like a news website is because, number two, I love to write. I’m a former screenwriter, and I’m still a professional storyteller, which translates into “I’m a professional complainer that needs an outlet.” But – the primary reason why I have a news-like website is that I just want to inform couples about what’s going on in the world of Hawaii weddings. Wedding companies are just not as honest as they should be, couples are spending way too much, and they are not getting the best bang for their buck.
Get me on the phone, I’ll tell you all about it.
But to sum it up, quickly. Say you want a simple romantic wedding on the beach. Sounds easy, right? But, your typical wedding company will book you at a busy beach, book a photographer who doesn’t know what they’re doing, and buy you cheap leis, then charge you thousands. If you’re spending thousands, you should get much better work.
They are ripping you off!
If you managed to read this far, I’m actually doing pretty darn good as a writer…haha.
So, how the hell did I get started in this industry?
If you’re interested, here’s my story. A long time ago, back in the late 90s, I was in my early 20s, a working screenwriter who had my hands in everything. I promoted concerts, held a contract to produce all those cheesy in-room commercials for hotels, and was producing three television shows for Japan. I knew nothing about the wedding industry back then, other than it was notoriously corrupt and cheesy. So, I embarked on a mission to educate brides through an instructional VHS set. Unfortunately, no one in the wedding industry wanted to spill all their insider secrets, for obvious reasons.
And that’s when I decided to take my entertainment production company and plunge it deep into the soul of the Hawaii wedding industry so I could write the correct instructional wedding video script.
God has a weird way of working because after my crew and I started shooting weddings, terrorists decided to attack our country on September 11th. All of the advertising revenue we depended on for our events and TV shows dried up, and we were stuck doing weddings to pay the bills. Most of my staff left because they didn’t want to shoot weddings, but I really liked it.
So, I continued to photograph and video weddings, and to plan them by myself. I enjoy my job working with couples and the opportunity to plan this turning point in their lives.
If you are wondering, my instructional video never got produced.

WHY BOOK YOUR WEDDING OR VOW RENEWAL WITH ME?
What separates me from my competition?
There’s a lot of reasons. I think the reason why you should choose me over my competition is that you’re more than just a client to me. I actually care about you, your story, and most of all, getting your dream wedding planned right and on budget. It doesn’t matter if you want a simple elopement on the beach or a helicopter wedding 1000 feet above the ocean – they all require the same amount of care.
If you want to get married on the beach of Hawaii, let’s get you to a secluded beach so it’s romantic as heck. If you want an 80s-themed wedding, let’s get the local Ghostbusters cosplayers to show up! Whatever you want, let’s try to do it!
I also think I’m one of the only wedding companies where you get to work with the owner one-on-one. And I actually work at the weddings. I don’t stay in the office. I get my hands dirty.
Lastly, but maybe most important for so many of my couples is that if you book with me, what you’re also getting is a planner who is also a professional photographer and videographer who actually understands storytelling, composition, and lighting. Yes, all the photos you see on my site are taken by me. I am training other’s, though. If they are good enough, I’ll let you them shoot. But as of now, they are still learning. But if you look the quality of the photos on my site, you will get that quality.
