I’m really happy to report to you that so far, so good.   Tariffs have not affected Hawaii weddings in any shape or form.  Competition is doing its job and keeping prices low for anything wedding-related…but

BUT…

If you plan to get married here, you may be paying a bit more in taxes because our government wants to charge tourists for climate change.  Yes, a freaking Carbon Tax!  And that will probably raise your hotel prices by about 5-10%.   I’m so sorry, our Governor is an idiot.  The Lahaina Fires happened, and he blames it on Climate Change, not on the fact that the State of Hawaii didn’t perform any wildfire maintenance there – ever.  Oh, if you’re wondering, the money collected by these Climate Change Taxes will be going into our government’s General Fund, so there’s no guarantee that it’s going toward any Climate Change initiative.

So, can you bypass these taxes?  Unfortunately, you can’t.

But, there may be some options.   The company that handles my marketing has access to hotel travel vouchers.  And all you need to do is pay the resort and taxes for the resort stay, and your 6 night stay in Hawaii, is free.   The only crappy thing about about it is that you need to pay $19 to see if the travel vouchers are good for your travel period – blackout dates do apply.
