HOW TO GET YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE
Obtaining your marriage license in Hawaii is actually quite simple compared to other states. It's so simple; I really don't have to write much on how to get it! Let me begin by saying that:
-
there is no required blood test
-
there is no waiting period after you get your license to get married
-
there is no waiting period to get your marriage license, there is no waiting period at all
-
If this is you have been married before, all you need is a divorce date, and that is it!
-
You don't need to be a U.S. Resident to get a marriage license!!!
So how do you get your marriage license? First, you head down to the Department of Health during working hours (8am-4pm M-F), pay the 60 dollars fee in cash, and well…that's it! You and your fiancé will need an official picture ID identification; a driver's license does the trick, passport, State ID, etc..etc..
There is an area where you will need to put your marriage performers name, you can just put down our companies name there “Dream Weddings Hawaii.”
And…that's it!!!
For more information, a printable application, you can visit the Department of Health's website by clicking here: http://www.hawaii.gov/health/vital-records/vital-records/marriage/index.html
The application found online via this link, remember IS NOT YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE. It's only the application, which, by the way, you can get at the department of health. So there's really no need to print the online application out.
WHAT IF I NEED TO GET MY MARRIAGE LICENSE ON A WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY?
If you need to get your marriage license on a weekend, off-hours, or on a holiday, you can get in contact with an independent wedding agent. I have their contact phone numbers and can email them to you. Posting their home phone numbers on the web would be wrong.

THE NEXT STEPS FROM HERE…GETTING HITCHED…OFFICIALLY!
Well, once you exit the Department of Health you will have your marriage license. You will bring that marriage license to your wedding, and after we perform your wedding, our minister will then make everything official by having you fill out your marriage license. He will then fill in his side of the paperwork, and wha-lah, you are officially married!
GETTING YOUR MARRIAGE “CERTIFICATE”
Your official marriage certificate will arrive in the mail within 120 working days of your wedding. Now for some couples that's okay. For me and for you, that's most likely not acceptable. So to expedite your marriage license between 7 to 10 working days, send in the green paper that you will receive when you apply for your marriage license. This “holy of green papers” plus a “holy ten dollars” will make our hard working state employees process your marriage license a lot faster.
If you're taking your fiancé's last name, opening new bank accounts, getting new driver's license, transferring insurance coverage, you name it, you'll need this marriage certificate fast to validate everything.
*for those of you who are international customers, same rules apply!!!*
IF YOU'RE OUT OF COUNTRY
Our marriages here in Hawaii will be legal in your country. Make sure you tell your registrar which country you are from, and they will make sure they will send the appropriate paperwork to you, so you can have your marriage legally recognized in your home country…..
MARRIAGE LICENSE PROCESSING?
THE SCAM!!! BRIDE BEWARE!!!
So now you may ask, “Steve, why don't you include marriage license processing in your packages likes the other wedding companies do?” It's because marriage license processing is a scam. A scam? Yes, absolutely!
See, the only office which can turn that marriage license or “process” that marriage license into a marriage certificate, is the Department of Health. My competitors create the “marriage license processing service” so they can charge you an extra hundred bucks. What do they consider marriage license processing? Well, they do the same thing our minister's do. They take your marriage license and pop it in the mail to the Department of Health. The total cost of this service is the cost of a stamp, since the envelope is even free (provided by the Department of Health!) They didn't process your license, they just mailed it!!
We actually provide this mailing service, thirty-nine cents, for free to our brides, because we are not cheap people..hehe.
