THE TOP REASONS OR "EXCUSES"
I'VE ENCOUNTERED FOR HAVING A HAWAII WEDDING
do you fit the stereotype?
I've been in the wedding industry for a pretty long time. Today is May 17, 2007; guess-ti-mating...I think I've spent close to 10 years in the wedding industry. Wow, time does fly when you're literally having fun. And yes, I do have fun at my weddings!
Well, now that you've decided that you're coming to Hawaii , or you're at least thinking about it, I bet you're wondering if you're alone in your thoughts. Surprise, surprise, you're not! In fact, here's an interesting fact. All you brides, kind of think alike. You're all on the same wave pattern. I'm not kidding here. You know, when I get phone or email inquiries, for some reason, you will all call around the same time. It really doesn't matter if you're from different time zones. You'll call at the same time!!! Isn't that strange? And you all wear white dresses, dress up for your wedding, want photos….wow, you really are all alike…hehe.
Alright, so here are the top reasons to get married in Hawaii that I've encountered from you like-minded brides. Maybe you fit one of them!
- I'VE HAD IT WITH MY BIG WEDDING PLANS! Many of my brides were in the process of planning that event wedding, and it just got too stressful! Planning was a headache, dealing with friends and family became hell, and the thought of spending all that money in one day and not on yourself, didn't sit too well. Hawaii was the answer. Sound familiar…you're not alone.
- WE'RE GETTING AWAY FROM OUR PARENTS, AND/OR EVERYONE This has a lot to do with the earlier reason. But many times, mothers, and mother-in-laws, can start treating your wedding, like it was their wedding. Mom's if you're reading this, you need to literally back off because your not being helpful by being controlling. If your help is needed, your daughters or sons will call you. If you don't back off, I'll be hearing from your daughter!!! And you won't get invited to the wedding in Hawaii . Just a kind warning moms.
- WE LOVE HAWAII!! – So it really has been your dream to marry in Hawaii , and you're just wondering if it's affordable, and doable. Well, yes and yes! It's definitely doable, and very cheap…lets use the word affordable, it sounds better. So you'll save a lot of money, and you'll get great photos and video (if you go through me).
- WE THINK WE CAN SAVE MONEY – The average gala/event wedding runs at around 30K and one "lovable" whole year of "wedding planning stress". The average destination wedding, or Hawaii wedding runs around 2K with all the bells and whistles, and around 5K more for your honeymoon, with all the bells and whistles. Cut back on the extras, and marrying in Hawaii can be even cheaper. So yes,, you can save money! Or I can charge you 30K and spend it on something really important, like Super bowl tickets.
- WE'RE GOING TO BE DOWN THERE ANYWAY - Hmm…you've known each other for years and years. You lived together, even have a house together; hey I bet some of you even have a kid together. So why not on this next romantic vacation, make it official. Great idea…I'm sure your parents would enjoy that.
- HAWAII IS MIDWAY FOR BOTH OF OUR FAMILIES – You're from California , and your fiancé is from Australia . Thank god, for Hawaii , we're smack dab in the middle of the ocean. How in the world the Hawaiian's found us 1000's of years ago, I have no idea, but I think luck had to do with it!!
- THIS IS LITERALLY JUST FOR PHOTOS, AND FOR THE MOTIONS – Now you're probably wondering, what the heck are you talking about Steve?!!! But I get calls actually by wedding couples who are already legally married. They signed those papers a year or two ago, and their parents really don't know about it. So, we marry them, for the motions. The wedding isn't a legal marriage, but their parents don't know it. You have no idea how many requests I get like this. And of course, your secret is safe with me!
Whatever your reason, you should know that planning a wedding in Hawaii is NOT as stressful as planning a gala back at home, because weddings in Hawaii are usually small and managable. I've done both, large weddings, and small weddings. And trust me when I say that small weddings, for obvious reasons, are much more romantic. So if you're planning on tying the knot here, plan on making it small and manageable.
